HRH Crown Princess Katherine and Dr. Martin Andrew Padmos visit to Ministry of Health

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine and Dr. Martin Andrew Padmos President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada visited the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia yesterday where they met with H.E. Minister of Health Dr. Slavica Djukic Dejanovic and discussed the possibilities of mutual cooperation between Serbia and Canada in the field of health and advancement of medical policies.
Establishing cooperation in the field of communications and education of doctors, specialists from Serbia and Canada was the priority of the meeting which was also attended by Prof. Dr. Vladimir Djukic, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Health, Mr. Bob Glass Consultant of Parker Management Consulting Company from Canada and Professor Dr. Ida Jovanovic Royal Medical Board of Serbia member.
The visit of Dr. Andrew Martin Padmos to Serbia was organized in cooperation with Lifeline Canada Humanitarian Organization under the auspices of HRH Princess Katherine in order to gain an understanding of the health system in Serbia, promote and develop cooperation in the field of education, training and exchange of doctors between Serbia and Canada.
Dr. Martin Andrew Padmos is the CEO of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons since 2006. Ambitious reforms, development and advancement of the postgraduate training for Canadian physicians, development of volunteer programs, international cooperation and the international outreach have been star characteristics of his mandate.
Dr. Padmos previously served as the State Commissioner for Cancer Care for Nova Scotia as well as the Associate Dean of the Medical faculty of the University Dalhousie and VP Research and Head of Cancer Care QEII Health Sciences. Dr. Padmos was educated in political science and economics at the University of Toronto, he studied at the Faculty of Medicine at the University MC Master where he specialised in internal medicine and haematology in 1976.
Dr. Padmos started practicing medicine in Calgary and after two years went to Saudi Arabia where he spent 15 years in a Special Hospital and Research Center, “King Faisal” in Riyadh, where he introduced bone marrow transplantation and directed clinical programs within the haematology and oncology. For more than 35 years he is considered a leader in the field of medicine, medical policies and the development of the profession.
