H.R.H. CROWN PRINCE ALEKSANDAR ON THE COMMEMORATION OF DEATH OF THE LATE KING  ALEKSANDAR I

 

H.R.H. Crown Prince Aleksandar and Crown Princess Katarina attended today the Holy Liturgy in the Churh of St. George on the occasion of 67 years from the death of late King Aleksandar I Karađorđević who was killed on the today's day on 9 October 1934 in Marseille, France.

His Grace Bishop of Zvornik and Tuzla and the administrator for Šumadija eparchy Vasilije served the lityrgy together with the other priests from Šumadija eparchy and Oplenac choir.

Before the service, H.R.H. Crown Prince Aleksandar laid flowers on the tomb of King Aleksandar and in the crypt of St. George's church. Following the service, H.R.H. addressed the present by saying that the killing of King Aleksandar I was especially tragic for us in Yugoslavia but also signified the beginning of great sufferings and distress for Europe.  

 “However, there is a new era in head of us, the era of creating a new reality and future for all Serbs and all other nations who are sharing with us their destiny, hopes and fears. This was the vision of King Aleksandar I and this is my program too“ emphasized   H.R.H. Crown Prince Aleksandar.

Beside His Royal Highness Crown Prince Aleksandar and his wife, the service was attended by the representatives of republic and municipal government, the officials of Topola municipality as well as by numerous citizens. Prof. Arh. Ivan Antić represented the Crown Council.
