The Memorial Medal of Tree of Peace in a special class with rubies, high award of the “Servare et Manere” non-government and non-profit association from Slovakia, was awarded today to HRH Crown Prince Alexander in Royal Palace.

This decoration was presented to His Royal Highness by Dr. Marek Sobola, CEO of the Association, in the presence of H.E. Mr. Fedor Rosocha, Ambassador of Slovakia in Serbia, and Mrs. Monika Podsklanová Šuhajdová, Deputy Head of Mission of Slovakian Embassy in Belgrade.

Dr. Sobola said that the merits of HRH Crown Prince Alexander in spreading ideas of peace and understanding among nations are strongly recognized, and due to them it was an honor to him to present the Crown Prince with this medal. He also stated that the acceptance of His Highness to receive the medal will encourage their organization to even stronger continue its efforts to make the future of humanity better, by connecting the powerful women and men from all over the world.

“It is a great honor for me to accept this high award. I am very happy that your organization works so devotedly to promote the high ideals of peace, unity, and friendship. Our world and the entire human society cannot exist without them. We should all do whatever we can to contribute to building bridges between nations. This task may seem hard, but it is worthy of every effort put into achieving it. I am happy that you recognized my aspirations to contribute to this very important field. I have to say, that I am just following the path that was set to me by my ancestors, my great-grandfather, King Peter I, my grandfather, King Alexander I, and my father, King Peter II. It is their legacy to me, and the duty of every member of the Royal family, to make his contribution to creating a better world for everyone”, said HRH Crown Prince Alexander on this occasion.

The medal that was awarded to Crown Prince represents the continuation of good cooperation between His Royal Highness and the “Servare et Manere” association, that started with planting a tree of peace in Slovakia dedicated to HM King Peter I, on Serbian military cemetery in Veľký Meder in Slovakia, which was under the patronage of HRH Crown Prince Alexander. Tree of Peace is an international project, which is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic. It has joined people from 16 countries and three continents, and one of the trees is planted in Sumarice memorial center in Kragujevac.
