ANNIVERSARY OF THE CULTURAL HERITAGE PRESERVATION INSTITUTE
OF BELGRADE
Belgrade, 28 May 2010 – HRH Crown Prince
Alexander II attended last night the celebration of the 50th
anniversary of the Cultural Heritage Preservation Institute
of Belgrade.
The idea of establishing the first
service for protection of cultural monuments in Belgrade
appeared just before the Second World War in 1939.
Nevertheless, the Cultural Heritage Preservation Institute
of Belgrade was officially founded on 27 May 1960, with the
main goal of protecting cultural monuments, spatial
cultural-historical entities, archaeological sites and
important places in Belgrade.
The Cultural Heritage Preservation
Institute is in charge of protection and preservation of
over 20 important historical locations in Belgrade, as well
as numerous buildings.
