Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine marked Saint Sava Day by attending a number of events dedicated to the father of Serbian spirituality and the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Prince Rastko Nemanjic – Saint Sava.

In the morning Their Royal Highnesses attended a Holy Liturgy which was officiated by His Grace Bishop Andrej of Remeziana.

St. Sava is the patron of all schools in Serbia, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II attended the Academy at the Faculty of Theology. The Academy was also attended by HE Prof Dr Tomislav Jovanovic, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, His Eminence Monsignor Stanislav Hocevar, Roman Catholic Metropolitan and Archbishop of Belgrade, H.E. Archbishop Orlando Antonini, Apostolic Nuncio.

In the meantime, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine attended a celebration at the Primary School “Dusan Dugalic“, the first specialised school for mentally challenged children in Serbia. HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation delivered a donation of sweets to pupils.

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine then visited the Saint Sava special hospital for cerebrovascular diseases in Belgrade where they attended the celebration of their St. Patron’s Day. His Grace Bishop Andrej of Remeziana blessed the cutting of the Slava cake. Their Royal Highnesses visited several departments at the hospital and talked to patients and staff at the hospital.

In the evening, Their Royal Highnesses will attend, along with many other distinguished guests, the traditional Saint Sava Academy at the National Theater in Belgrade.
