His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander attended the marking of School “King Alexander I” Day and unveiling of the bust of his grandfather His Majesty King Alexander I in New Belgrade. Advisors to the Crown Mr Dragomir Acovic and Professor Dragoljub Kavran accompanied the Crown Prince.

Crown Prince Alexander emphasised in his address: “I am very happy, proud and deeply grateful to everyone who made it possible for the unveiling of the bust of King Alexander I, my grandfather, at this beautiful elementary school that bears his name. A hundred years ago, with the Serbian army and his people, he crossed Albania and endured all the difficulties which Serbia and the Serbian people were exposed to. Unfortunately, after the Second World War, his personality was pushed into oblivion, and history was altered and cleansed. My grandfather was not alone in that he was not the only King since my father King Peter also suffered  harsh and undeserved treatment. Thank God times have changed! Today’s unveiling of the King Alexander’s bust shows and proves that injustice may be rectified. If our young generations know and respected our history, there is hope for a better tomorrow.” – said the Crown Prince.

Beside the Crown Prince and advisors to the Crown, at the ceremony there were Mr Goran Vesic, City Manager of Belgrade and Mr Vladan Vukosavljevic, city secretary for culture, and host of the celebration, Mr Milan Pusica, Principal of “King Alexander I” elementary school.
