Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended today the central regional celebration of 1700th Anniversary of Edict of Milan of Emperor Constantine by the Roman Catholic Church in the stadium “Cair” in the City of Nis. H.E. Mr. Tomislav Nikolic, President of Republic of Serbia, His Grace Bishop Jovan of Nis, Prof. Dr. Zoran Perisic, Mayor of Nis attended the ceremony.
H.E. Cardinal Angelo Scola, Archbishop of Milan, a special envoy of Pope Francis, officiated the holy mass together with H. E. Monsignor Stanislav Hocevar, Roman Catholic Metropolitan and Archbishop of Belgrade, and cardinals, archbishops, bishops and priests from neighbouring countries and the region.
H.E. Cardinal Scola, the special envoy of Pope Francis, brought a relic of a Holy Cross and delivered a special gift from the Holy See, a sculpture monument that testifies the spirit of tolerance and cohabitation of Christians in Nis.
Several thousand faithful attended the regional pilgrimage in Nis, organized by the Roman Catholic Church, among them many young people who carried the relics of Holy Empress Helena.
The celebration was attended by numerous representatives from the diplomatic corps and religious organizations.
