The
thirtieth meeting of the NGOs in The Royal Palace
Millennium aims of the development of
the UNDP and the strategy for the decrease of the poverty
Belgrade, September 16th 2004 – The thirtieth meeting of the NGOs
was organized today by the Foundation of HRH Princess Katherine, in
the Royal Palace in Dedinje. This meeting was attended by the
representatives of the Government of the Republic, the
representatives of the UN the Red Cross. The theme of the meeting
were the millennium aims of the development till the year of 2015,
which were brought by the United Nations program for the development
of the decrease of the poverty of the Republic of Serbia.
Mr. Lars Andre Skari, the counselor for the decrease of the
poverty in the cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Dr
Miroljub Labus, represented to the gathered members of the NGOs, the
ways by which the Government of the Republic of Serbia is trying to
decrease the poverty and the millennium aims of the development,
which was accepted and signed by all the members of the UN.
HE Mr. Frank O’Donnell, the chief of the UN mission in SCG and
the chief of the program for the development, has tried to explain
clearly how they would realize that program in our country. He
stated that the aims of the development are as follows:
exterminating the roots of the poverty and famine, achieving the
primary education, promoting of the equality between the sexes and
bigger rights for the women, the decrease of the mortality of the
children, improvement of the health of the mothers, fight against
the AIDS, malaria and other diseases, insurance of the maintenance
of the environment and the establishing the global partnership for
the development.
HRH Crown Prince Alexander and HRH Princess Katherine have warmly
thanked to HE Mr. Frank O’Donnell for his cooperation and help and
greeted the efforts which the members of the Government took in
decrease of the poverty in our country.
Next meeting is scheduled for the 14th of October 2004, at 10 am.
