7th Congress of
Ophthalmologists has been opened
Belgrade, 28 September 2004 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and
Princess Katherine have attended tonight the opening of the 7th
Congress of the ophthalmologists of Serbia and Montenegro where over
500 participants from 10 countries are taking place.
At the beginning of the program, the guests were greeted by doc.
Dr. Stefanovic, who stressed a professional and scientific aspect of
this congress. He reminded that in last few years the ophthalmology
has been experiencing a considerable development and progress. Prof,
Dr. Aleksic also addressed the participants. He thanked them for
showing interest in this congress. The congress is devoted to the
vision eyes traumas, with a special attention to the war traumas.
HRH Crown Prince Alexander II then addressed the participants. He
expressed his pleasure of seeing experts from this important branch of
medicine gathered in such numbers on the Congress.
“This is an opportunity to exchange experiences in this essential
field of medicine, which is daily gaining new knowledge and ways how
to threat eye disorders. This is the best way of helping the patients
who are waiting for help for eye disorders. I believe that there will
be such congresses in future as well and that we will be good hosts” –
stressed the Crown Prince in his address to the participants.
In the cultural part of the opening program, the academic choir
“Collegium Musicum”, with Prof. Darinka Matic Marovic as its
conductor, took place.
The Congress is being held at the Inter-Continental Hotel. In next
few days, a lecture by the top ophthalmologist from Greece Dr.
Georgaras will be organised. In order to be able to threat their
patients in the best possible way the participants will have the
opportunity through lectures and talks to exchange experiences and
