27 MARCH 1941 – 70 YEARS LATER
Presentation of the Proceedings from the Conference
Belgrade, 27 March 2012 – The Royal Palace Fund and Institute for Contemporary History organised a presentation of the proceedings of “27 March 1941 – 70 years later” conference today in Dedinje. This Conference was held last year at the Royal Palace, together with exhibition under the same title.
Guests were addressed by H.E. Mr. Predrag Markovic, Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society, Prof. Dr. Tibor Sabo, assistant Minister of Education and science, Mr. Dragomir Acovic, member of the Privy Council, and Prof. Dr. Momcilo Pavlovic, director of the Institute for contemporary history.
The proceedings consisted of papers presented by nine prominent historians specialising in contemporary Serbian history, “Dates that determined the destiny of the state and people, March 15 and March 27”, author Momcilo Pavlovic, “War plan R-41 of the Army of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia”, by Dragan Tesic, “Prince Paul Karadjordjevic and events of March 1941 in Yugoslavia” by Kosta Nikolic, “Prince Paul and diplomacy as the art of achieving possible solutions – An Anglo-Saxon impact on events on 27 March 1941” by Srdja Trifkovic, “27 March 1941 – memories, explanations, research and bibliography” by Ljubodrag Dimic, “Myth of the year 1941” by Cedomir Antic, “Members of Serbian Government of General Nedic 25 and 27 March 1941” by Bojan B. Dimitrijevic, “27 March 1941 – Historic facts and ideologies” by Nikola Zutic, “March 25 and March 27 and April 1941 war - what is the reason of conflicting views?” by Mile Bjelajac.
The diary of Colonel Miodrag Rakic, an adjutant of His Majesty King Peter II of Yugoslavia, document kept in the Archives of the Royal Palace, was presented for the first time to the public, together with numerous documents and photos related to the events 25 March to 17 April 1941.
