The Royal Family of Serbia – the Karađorđević dynasty – is the Royal house that carries a rich historical legacy deeply intertwined with the formation and development of the modern Serbian state.

The Family traces its origins to Djordje Petrović Karadjordje, Supreme Leader of the First Serbian Uprising, whose descendants continued a dynasty born from the people.

Throughout more than two centuries of turbulent Serbian history, the family served the nation through periods of independence, war, exile, and building a state.

The motto of the Royal family, “From the People, For the People,” reflects its heritage and the Karadjordjević’s unwavering commitment to serving the nation.

Today, the Royal Family is led by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander, who was born in exile during WWII and spent decades advocating for democracy and human rights.

Guided by the principle that the Crown belongs to all citizens, the Royal Family is dedicated to serving its people and Homeland through humanitarian work, the preservation of national and cultural heritage, the promotion of unity and reconciliation, and supporting numerous charitable, educational, cultural, and youth initiatives across Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.

The Royal Family also preserves the historical and cultural legacy of the Karađorđević dynasty while fostering close ties with Royal houses and institutions around the world, representing Serbian heritage on the global stage.

Together with the people of our country, the Royal Family bridges Serbia’s proud historical traditions with a vision for a strong and prosperous future.
