HRH Crown Prince Alexander`s
Crown Council and Privy Council

for Resignation of Slobodan Milosevic and His Government

The Serbian people can no longer endure either politically or economically
or even biologically the effects of the disastrous national and state policies
pursued by Slobodan Milosevic and his governments. The Serbian people can
no longer bear or be expected to bear the burden of ethical responsibility
for the misdeeds and crimes that have been committed and are still being
committed in their name without their knowledge and consent.  What
is at stake here is no longer the position and reputation of the Serbian
people and their state in the civilised world, but their further survival
as a nation.  This is why the Crown Council and Privy Council are
joining His Royal Highness Crown Alexander in his demand, as well as the
demands of the Holy Synod and other highly respected national organisations
and institutions, for President Milosevic and members of his governments
to resign and leave office at once.  For the salvation of the people,
it is high time for the executive power, abused by the incumbents to the
limit, to pass into the hands of people who are both responsible and capable.

After the catastrophe for which it bears the ultimate responsibility,
the current regime abandoned Kosovo and Metohia in a shameful manner, exposing
the innocent people to the most terrible suffering for the second time
this decade.   However, a deep sense of moral obligation, Christian
and human compassion and even physical courage to be with their people
in these tragic times, were demonstrated above all by those who have been
with the people all throughout the centuries:  the highest dignitaries
of the Serbian Orthodox Church and  Serbian Crown.  Having attended
the events marking St. Vitus Day (Vidovdan) events in Montenegro, Crown
Prince Alexander went to Kosovo and Metohia, to Pec and visited the Pec
patriarchate to meet His Holiness Patriarch Pavle and other bishops and
learn on the spot about the terrible suffering of the remaining Serbian
population and about all other horrors of destruction, murder and pillage
which took place as a result of the policy for which Slobodan Milosevic`s
regime bears main responsibility.

At this critical moment, the Crown Council and Privy Council, demanding
the resignation of Slobodan Milosevic and his governments, point out that
the easiest and, at the same time, most equitable way out of this chaos
created by an illegitimate regime, the successor of the previous one which
usurped power half a century ago, would be a return to legitimacy by restoring
the monarchy, embodied in the historical Karadjordjevic dynasty,
as a guarantor of constitutional rights and democracy.
