“COMMON COUNTRY ASSESSMENT OF THE UN TEAM”
Belgrade, 22 January 2004 – Organized by HRH Crown Princess Katherine’s
Foundation at The Royal Palace today, there was the 24th meeting of
international NGOs, UN agencies and the Red Cross. The meeting was attended
by TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine.
Mr. Francis O’Donnell, resident coordinator of the UN presented the
common country assessment. According to Mr. O’Donnell our country in the
following period needs to pay special attention to the institutional
reforms, development of judicial system and local government.
Today’s meeting had a special guest, Mrs. Grace Nelson, the wife of the
USA senator from Florida, who presented her so far humanitarian work.
Addressing the present HRH Crown Princess Katherine announced the project
of SOS phone line for the children victims of violence, and the Easter
reception for 2,000 orphans at The Palace.
Special guests at the meeting were also the Head of the UN Office in New
York Mrs. Sarah Pool, Dr. John Papadatos, the representative of the Greek
“PNOE” Foundation, the wives of the most influential people from America,
representatives of the World Bank and European Agency for Reconstruction and
Development, and Father Irinej Dobrijevic of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
The next meeting of NGOs was scheduled for Thursday, 11 March 2004.
