CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER AND MEMBERS OF THE
ADVISORY BODIES OF THE CROWN EXTEND THEIR CONDOLENCES REGARDING THE
PASSING OF PROFESSOR ALEX DRAGNIC
Belgrade, 13 August 2009 – His Royal Highness
Crown Prince Alexander II and members of the Advisory Bodies of the
Crown announced with great sorrow that Professor Alex Dragnic,
member of the Crown Council, member of the Serbian Academy of
Sciences and the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of the White Eagle
passed away on 9 August in Ellicott City, Maryland, United States.
Prof. Dr. Dragnic, who was 97 years old, was
Professor emeritus at the University Vanderbilt, a diplomat,
publicist and man of great integrity, knowledge and authority.
Despite his age, he was quite active and his last book was published
in 2004 under the title “Serbia Through Centuries”.
The death of Prof. Dragnic is an enormous lost
for our culture, history and the Serbian community, as much as for
one in the North American Diaspora as well as to everyone else that
new him and had the privilege to be his contemporaries.
We pray the Lord to give him eternal peace.
