CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER II ENVOY AT 500TH
ANNIVERSARY OF MONASTERY KRUSEDOL
Belgrade, 12 August 2009 – On behalf of HRH Crown
Prince Alexander II, Mr. Dragomir Acovic, member of the Privy
Council participated in the 500th Anniversary of the Monastery
Krusedol and Liturgy which was attended by a large number of people
in Fruska Gora.
His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of
Montenegro and Littoral, together with fourteen Bishops of the
Serbian Orthodox Church, served the Holy Liturgy in front of several
thousand people who came from all over Serbia and Republika Srpska.
The central event of the 500th Anniversary of the
most important Serbian Monastery in Fruska Gora was also attended by
Mr. Bojan Pajtic, President of Vojvodina’s Government and other
representatives of the government, representatives of the Russian’s
Orthodox Church, the Russian Ambassador to Serbia H.E. Mr. Alexander
Konuzin and other members of the diplomatic corps, representatives
of Serbian Military and Police, a delegation of Republika Srpska and
other distinguished guests.
Krusedol Monastery is a religious and historical
focal point of Serbian nation north of the Sava and Danube rivers
for five centuries. Many important figures from our history are
buried there, among them Patriarchs Arsenije III Carnojevic and
Arsenije IV Jovanovic Sakabenta, leaders of great Serbian migration,
Duchess Ljubica (wife of Duke Milos Obrenovic), King Milan
Obrenovic, and many others.
