TRH Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine wish blessed and Merry Christmas to all believers around the world who celebrate this great holyday tomorrow, according to the Julian calendar.
In addition to the traditional congratulations, the Crown Prince as the Head of the Royal family of Serbia, sent additional words of hope reflecting the most recent events in our society, appealing for unity, peace, and solidarity for the better future of all.
”The birth of the Son of our Lord is one of the holiest and most joyous days in the entire history, and on this great holiday, to all citizens of Serbia, the Republic of Srpska, and all people around the world who celebrate this sacred day tomorrow, we extend our warmest and most cordial congratulations.
As we gather to celebrate and share the joy and warmth of Christmas, which is before all a time of peace, reflection, and renewal, I wish to address you all, as we stand together in the spirit of hope and unity. Christmas is not only a time of faith, but also a reminder of the deep values that bind us as a people — values of love, respect, and solidarity.
This year has been marked by significant challenges, both in our daily lives and in the political sphere. Many of our young people, who are the future of this country, have expressed their concerns and disappointments through peaceful protests. I deeply respect and understand the desire for change, for a better, more prosperous future, and for a society where the voices of all citizens are heard and respected. I would also add that it is only natural for young people to wish that they are the ones who will impact their future.
It is crucially important to remember that dialogue, understanding, and respect for each other’s opinions are the foundations upon which a strong and harmonious society is built. In these times of disagreement, let us all strive to foster a spirit of unity. As the Crown was always a symbol of continuity and stability, and because of its unchangeable position of being above politics, I encourage all sides to listen and work together for the common good of Serbia. The challenges we face are not easy, but through cooperation and mutual respect, we can build a stronger, more prosperous country.
It is normal for people to have different opinions and views, and it is natural for them to stand by those attitudes. It is the essence of democracy, as Voltaire said a long time ago: “I do not agree with a single word you have spoken, but I will defend your right to say them to the death.” But it is also the essence of civil society to respect the opposite opinion, although not agreeing with it, and trying to find a common ground, for the sake of the future of the country.
I call upon our political leaders, our youth, and all citizens to come together in a spirit of dialogue and compromise. Now, more than ever, we must remember the importance of unity. While we may not always agree on every issue, we share a deep love for our homeland and a common desire for a brighter future. Let us put aside divisions and work toward a Serbia that reflects the values of fairness, justice, and opportunity for all. My doors are open and will always be open to support the dialogue and provide any help needed in resolving disagreements, fostering communication, and supporting national harmony and understanding among the people of Serbia.
At Christmas, we are reminded of the birth of hope, of the potential for renewal and peace. Let us make the most of this festive period of the year as an opportunity to reflect on the values that bind us as a people, and let us carry that spirit of hope, unity, and peace into the new year. Our family wishes everybody, may this Christmas bring joy, warmth, and harmony to all of you, and may the coming year be filled with progress, prosperity, and above all, unity. Together, we can overcome any challenge and build a future worthy of our great homeland and its people. Let the love of God that was shown to us when the Father sent his Son to Earth to bring us hope and salvation fulfil us, so that we could, with pure hearts, greet each other with the traditional words, which I am saying with the greatest joy – Peace of God, Christ is born!”
