His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander, accompanied by Mr. Dragomir Acovic, chairman of the Crown Council, attended today at the Historical Museum of Serbia the opening of the exhibition “Saint Sava of Serbia”, which was opened by His Holiness Irinej, the Serbian Patriarch.
Multimedia exhibition “Saint Sava of Serbia” is the result of several years of research by Dr. Andrej Vujnovic and its intention is to bring closer to the public his worldwide spiritual path as well as the size and the significance of his personality for the Serbian state and the Serbian Orthodox church, but also the entire Serbian history and culture, through archives, copies of frescoes and icons and photographs of personal items and relics of St. Sava.
The exhibition presents the worldly life of Rastko, the third son of the Grand Prince of Raska Stefan Nemanja, his departure from the earthly powers, his journey to Mount Athos and taking a monk’s name Sava, his work on gaining autocephaly and autonomy for the Serbian Orthodox Church in Nicaea where he became the first Serbian archbishop, his great efforts to improve church organization, state-building, statesmanship and diplomatic affairs which brought about, among other things, international recognition for the Kingdom of Serbia, as well as various and immeasurable contributions in the field of enlightenment, literature and patronage (reconstruction of Hilandar, building Zica, Studenica and other monasteries), which made St. Sava the most significant figure in the history of the Serbian nation.
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander warmly recommends, and invites all citizens of Serbia to visit this beautiful and important exhibition.
