CROWN PRINCE UNVEILS MONUMENT TO KING ALEXANDER I
Belgrade, 21 October 2008 – After attending commemoration
marking 67 years since the killing of Kragujevac civilians and students in
the Second World War, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II visited
the town of Becevica, 20 km from Kragujevac. In Becevica the Crown Prince
and Prof. Miroslav Gasic, member of the Crown Council attended the unveiling
and ceremony of the monument to King Alexander I and citizens of town of
Becevica, who were killed in the Second World War.
The Crown Prince delivered a speech and emphasized: “The
monuments that were built in honour of my grandfather, King Alexander I were
ruined during the Second World War. The unveiling of this monument will
encourage us to learn from past for the benefit of the better future”.
The consecration of the monument was performed by His
Grace Bishop of Zica Hrizostom in the presence of the Presidents of
Municipalities of Knic, Raca, Cacak and Batocina.
