During their visit to Chicago, Their Royal Highnesses Hereditary Prince Philip and Princess Danica met at the “Ambar” restaurant with prominent representatives of the Serbian community in the United States of America, including leaders of associations, cultural and humanitarian organisations, as well as representatives of folklore ensembles whose work contributes to the preservation of the Serbian national, cultural and spiritual identity in the diaspora.
During the meeting, the “Serbian Camp” project was presented, which will bring together children and young people from the diaspora, Serbia and other countries where the Serbian people live from 2027. The goal of this project is to preserve the Serbian language, cultural heritage, traditions and spiritual values through educational, cultural and sports activities, as well as strengthening ties between the younger generations and their homeland.
Of particular importance was the exchange of experiences and opinions with representatives of organisations that have been successfully implementing similar programs in the United States for many years. Their advice and experience will be a valuable contribution to the preparations for the first Serbian camp, which is planned to be held next summer in Vrnjačka Banja.
Their Royal Highnesses expressed their gratitude to all participants for the warm welcome, the time they spent and their willingness to support this important initiative. Through joint work and cooperation, the ties between the homeland and the diaspora can be further strengthened, preserving national identity and cultural heritage for future generations.
