WHITE PALACE RECEPTION FOR PARTICIPANTS OF INTERNATIONAL
ASSOCIATION OF PROSECUTORS CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION “MODERN SLAVERY”
Belgrade, 27 October 2010 – Their Royal Highness Crown Prince
Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine hosted this evening a reception for
the participants of the 5th Regional Conference of the International Association
of Prosecutors (IAP) “Cooperating against corruption” at the White Palace. The
Crown Prince also opened an exhibition “Modern slavery“, which was organized by
a Serbian team fighting against human trafficking, Save the Children and Centre
for Youth Integration.
In the beginning of the ceremony guests were welcomed by HRH
Crown Prince Alexander, Mr. Goran Ilic, President of Managing Board of
Prosecutors Association of Serbia, Mr. Derk Kuipers, Secretary General of
International Association of Prosecutors and Mr. Vito Monetti, President of
European association of judges and prosecutors for freedom and democracy
(MEDEL).
The Crown Prince emphasized in his welcome speech: “The main
theme of this conference is: cooperation against corruption, which addresses one
of the major problems that Serbia, as well as many other Central and Eastern
European and Central Asian countries are facing today. I agree that the emphasis
should be on cooperation, cooperation between countries, law enforcement
agencies, nongovernmental organizations, media outlets, because this huge and
important task calls for joint and coordinated effort. In addition, you will
have the opportunity to see photographs and children drawings at a touching
exhibition prepared by a Serbian team against the trafficking of human beings.
My wife and I firmly support this action and we were already engaged at the
conference in Athens, with a similar topic fighting human trafficking, with many
prominent figures from Greek public life and international community like Ms.
Mubarak, the wife of the President of Egypt”.
The exhibition of photographs and children’s drawings will be
open for visitors at the White Palace until Wednesday, 3 November 2010, between
11am and 2pm. Everyone interested should call the Office of Crown Prince
Alexander on 011 306 4014 at least one day in advance.
