TRH Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine attended the One World One Family Festival in Vienna and were patrons of the part dedicated to Serbia. His Royal Highness opened this day of the manifestation with his addressing.
On the opening day of the Festival, the Award ceremony was held, during which the Crown Princess received a Global Humanitarian Award for her dedication to humanitarian service. The following day, 9 June, marked the opening of the educational part of the Festival, a five-day international cultural celebration dedicated to strengthening friendship and understanding among nations through music, education, dialogue, encounters, and cultural exchange, held at the Liechtenstein City Palace in Vienna. The inaugural day was dedicated to Serbia and Greece, followed by days dedicated to Bulgaria and India on the 10th of June, Japan and Argentina on the 11th of June, and Tunisia and Austria on the last day of the event.
During the opening ceremony dedicated to Serbia, HRH Crown Prince Alexander addressed the assembled guests and spoke about the importance of preserving cultural identity while strengthening international friendship, dialogue, and understanding among peoples. “I am especially happy that this day is dedicated to Serbia and Greece, two brotherly countries and nations who are indeed a shining example of mutual cooperation, respect, and friendship.
Serbia is a dynamic crossroad of civilizations, rich with history and tradition. It is a place where medieval Orthodox monasteries and fortresses blend seamlessly with modern life. Where historical heritage, respect for our ancestors and our glorious past, is woven into everyday life, and keeps living in our rich culture.
From our music and our literature, our cultural and historical monuments, to our excellent cuisine, vibrant and colorful cities, to our mountain villages where time seems to have stopped decades ago, Serbia has so much to be proud of, but its greatest value is its people. Honest and open, Serbs will welcome every guest with open arms, making them feel at home. Our people have also contributed and are contributing tremendously to the world we live in, with innovations, ideas, and vision.
Our culture is very rich, but we are also always very open to all the other people in the world, to connect with them, exchange knowledge and ideas, learn more about their heritage, and to make bridges of friendship. That is why events like this are very important: to connect different nations and inspire them to cooperate and to appreciate each other, to value the differences that exist among people and to respect them.”
The Serbian cultural programme presented the rich heritage, traditions, and artistic spirit of Serbia to an international audience. Distinguished guests, students, artists, and representatives of various countries gathered to celebrate the values of cultural diversity, mutual respect, and cooperation. A special highlight was a performance by the renowned Danijela Orchestra, one of Serbia’s most distinguished brass ensembles, known for preserving the authentic spirit of Serbian music while successfully combining traditional roots with contemporary artistic expression.
The participation of the Royal Family in these events reflects their longstanding commitment to humanitarian work, cultural diplomacy, and initiatives that foster cooperation, solidarity, and friendship among nations. The recognition bestowed upon Crown Princess Katherine and the celebration of Serbian culture at the opening of the Festival represented a meaningful contribution to the strengthening of ties between peoples and nations through the universal values of compassion, service, culture, and mutual respect.
