BISHOP NIKOLAJ BEATIFIED
Belgrade 20 May 2003 – On the occasion the Holy Assembly of Serbian
Orthodox Church decision and their suggestion for beatification of the late
Bishop Nikolaj of Zica, HRH Crown Prince Alexander II issued the following
statement:
“It was with great joy that I received the news of the late Bishop
Nikolaj joining the spiritual iconostasis of the saints of Christ’s Church.

Praised and disputed, elevated and persecuted, enthroned and imprisoned,
Bishop Nikolaj through his unwavering faith in the word of God and the
teachings of love, has remained the example of confronting troubles, of
conviction in human salvation and prayer for deliverance of his people from
the temptations of evil and serving to mindlessness.
I hope and I expect that those who saw an enlightening example in Bishop
Nikolaj will feel full satisfaction because of his joining the holy Serbs,
and that those who denied him will feel invited to read carefully the works
and the teachings of this great man who died in exile from his Fatherland,
but who found his home in the hearts of all through Christians and of those
