CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE “OCTOBER – MONTH OF
HEALTHY DIET” CAMPAIGN AT THE NATIONAL THEATRE
Belgrade, 5 November 2003 – HRH Crown Princess Katherine attended today
the closing ceremony of the “October – month of healthy diet” campaign at
the National Theatre, organized by the Institute for Health Protection
“Batut”, in cooperation with other institutions for health protection in
Serbia.
The campaign for healthy diet aimed at prevention of cardio – vascular
diseases and cancer, and was conducted in kinder gardens, elementary and
secondary schools in 23 regions throughout Serbia during last 3 years. The
children and school students wrote and painted on the theme of healthy diet.
At the beginning of the ceremony the present were addressed by Dr Jelena
Gudelj, who presented the results of the campaign initiated on the occasion
of The World Food Day on 16 October, that was marked in over 150 countries,
members of FAO, entitled “Together against hunger”.
Lectures, creative work shops and competitions were organized at
kindergartens and schools, with the goal to change the bed habits in our
children’s and youth’s diet.
The present were also addressed by HRH Crown Princess Katherine, who
pointed out how happy she was for having such activities in our country.
“Children make 25 % of our planet’s population, but they are 100 % our
responsibility and future. I wish we taught our children to have healthy
diet and eat more fruit and vegetables” – pointed out the Princess and
wished the organizers a lot of success in their future work.
Then followed the program with kindergarten and school children dancing,
singing and reciting and a fashion show. The most successful participants
and the donors were awarded.
Beside HRH Crown Princess Katherine this manifestation was attended by
representatives of the Ministry of Health, Faculty of Stomatology, and the
donors who helped the campaign.
