His Majesty King Peter II (father of Crown Prince Alexander) and family would attend services at Saint Sava Cathedral when they lived in New York.

A place of refuge and a vital resource for many people over decades, Saint Sava Cathedral served not only for New Yorkers, but the Serbian diaspora across the United States.
All the attendees at this important event joined in the renovation of this spiritual home under the leadership of the charismatic and deeply caring individual, His Grace Bishop Irinej, the recently elected Bishop of the Eastern American Diocese. The event was also attended by Mr. Vlade Divac, famous basketball player and president of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, Mrs. Rebecca MacDonald, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Dr. Branko Terzic of Washington DC, the Royal Adjutant represented the Crown Council and Privy Council, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of Washington and All America and Canada, His Grace Bishop Sevastianos of Zela, His Grace Bishop John of Worcester and New England, Canon Dr. J. Robert Wright, Episcopalian Diocese of New York, Very Rev. Dr. Zivojin Jakovljevic, Cathedral Dean, Very Rev.
