CROWN PRINCE OPENS 6TH SYMPOSIUM OF COLOPROCTOLOGISTS

Belgrade, 16 October 2008 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown
Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended today the opening
of the 6th International Symposium of Coloproctologists held at the National
Theatre. The Crown Prince gave a speech and officially marked the opening of
the Symposium. In his speech His Royal Highness emphasized: “This remarkable
international meeting of doctors presents an excellent opportunity to
display the latest results and to exchange experiences. The discussions at
this congress, relating to newest scientific developments from your field,
will be a starting point to review the current status of Serbian
Coloproctology and to lay out priorities for future development.
The participation of international experts will enable
our professionals to more easily apprehend the possibilities and challenges
that they might face”.
Following the ceremony, speeches were delivered by H.E.
Prof. Dr Tomica Milosavljevic, Minister of Health, Prof. Dr Bill Heald,
Professor from United Kingdom and Prof. Dr Zoran Krivokapic, President of
the Symposium.
As a part of the program guests had the opportunity to
enjoy the Ballet performance “Necista krva” presented by the Assemble of the
National Theatre.
The 6th International Congress of Coloproctologists will
be held in Sava Centre from 16 to 18 October.
The Society of Coloproctology of Yugoslavia was initiated
on 12 December, 1997 in Belgrade. The Society was founded by a number of
enthusiasts with the purpose to improve treatment of colon and rectal
diseases and to provide an exchange of experience in diagnostics and
treatment, as well as to provide interdisciplinary access in diagnosis and
