After a warm welcome by the Serbian community in Chicago, Their Royal Highnesses Hereditary Prince Philip and Princess Danica, together with Prince Stefan and Princess Marija, arrived to visit the Serbian community in Canada.
During their stay in Hamilton, the Royal Family attended a gala dinner at the Winona Vine Estates winery, organised in their honour, which was attended by representatives of the Serbian community, clergy, representatives of church and school communities, Serbian organisations, businessmen and numerous compatriots.
Addressing the audience, Hereditary Prince Philip said that “There are no Serbs in the homeland and Serbs in the diaspora. There is only one Serbian people.”
On this occasion, he emphasised that he believes that the role of the Crown is to continue to be a bridge between the past and the future, between Serbia and the diaspora, as well as between people who are connected by love for their people and their homeland.
A special contribution to the festive evening was made by members of the School of Serbian Folklore “Unity (Sloga)”, who, with their performance, testified that Serbian tradition is being passed on with love to younger generations, as well as the young artist Damjan Drača, whose musical program complemented the atmosphere of this festive gathering.
The Hereditary Prince expressed his sincere gratitude to the organisers, Igor Stevanović and Zoran Cvijetić, as well as to the clergy, representatives of church and school communities, Serbian organisations, businessmen and all compatriots for their warm hospitality and long-standing dedicated work to preserve the Serbian language, religion, culture and national identity.
The Princely Couple expresses their gratitude to the Serbian community in Canada for their strong connection to the homeland and commitment to preserving Serbian heritage, emphasising that Serbia lives wherever the Serbian name, faith, language and tradition are preserved.
