Twenty-seventh of March is the date that impressed the free and democratic world, perhaps just as much as the exploits of the Serbian Royal Army in the First World War did. This is the date which in itself summarizes symbolism of failed hopes. Mass protest of the citizens against the Tripartite Pact, overthrowing the government, military coup, cheering and calling for the young the King to fully take his royal powers and save the honour of the state and the nation – these are the images and news from the streets of Belgrade that spread around the world. It is not the image that generations after the World War Two could see in Serbia. The truth about the March 27 was ideologically distorted, reduced to two slogans (“Better war than pact” and “Better grave than slave”) and abused to serve a simplified propaganda. Of one party, communist, and one country, the Soviet.
The Kingdom of Serbia Association was founded by a group of the Belgrade University students in 2008 under the name King’s Youth, as a non-partisan, non-governmental and non-profit association, under the patronage of HRH Crown Prince Alexander, with the primary objective of restoring the monarchy in Serbia. This group of young people, convinced that the monarchy could help Serbia, managed to encourage both younger and older population of citizens to join them, by their activities and positive action. Because of the desire of a large number of people over the age of 26 to engage in the work for the restoration of the monarchy, the King’s Youth, continues to act as the offspring of a larger organization since January 2010, open to all – the Kingdom of Serbia Association. Since its establishment, our Association has become the largest NGO and monarchy association in Serbia with constant growth in the number of members. Currently the Association has over 18,000 members, mostly younger than 35, who are organized in more than 80 committees and trustees’ offices throughout Serbia.
