ROYAL COUPLE HOST WORKING BREAKFAST FOR MEMBERS
OF THE HELLENIC BUSINESS ASSOCIATION
Belgrade, 22 October 2009 – Their Royal
Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine
hosted a Working breakfast for members of the
Hellenic Business Association
today at the White Palace.
Guests were addressed by HRH Crown Prince
Alexander II, Admiral Vasilis Ntertilis, President of the Executive
Board of the Hellenic Business Association (HBA) and Mr. Dusan Babac,
member of the Privy Council.
HRH Crown Prince Alexander II greeted the guests
and emphasized: “It is a great pleasure for my wife and I to welcome
you to the White Palace. Greece is a country with whom Serbia has
excellent political, cultural and economical relations for
centuries. I understand that so far total Greek investment in Serbia
is over three billion Euros, which is a great support for our
economy. I strongly believe that if work together we can bring many
more investors and I am willing to offer my assistance and support
to improve the situation further in all of these areas”, stated the
Crown Prince.
Speeches were also delivered by Admiral Vasilis
Dertilis and Mr. Nikolaos Karakostas, Director of HBA.
They pointed out that Greeks were pioneers in
investing in Serbia and that so far the capital they invested in our
country through business deals, exports and taxes made a huge
contribution to Serbian revenue. He also thanked very much Their
Royal Highnesses for their great support for all these years
pointing out that with teamwork they can help promote economic
cooperation between Greece and Serbia even more.
At the working breakfast there were
representatives of more than 40 companies, including Eurobank EFG,
Alpha Bank, Piraeus Bank, Oil Refinery, Metropol Palace, Veropoulos,
Vojvodjanska Bank and many others.
The Hellenic Business association of Serbia is a
private, non-government, non-lobbying, non-profit organization
established in 2003. Its members consist of 41 local legal entities
with a minimum of 50% Greek capital, currently employing more than
26.000 people in Serbia.
The Greek owned companies in Serbia, are involved
in various business segments (banking, food and beverage,
telecommunications, retailing, tourism, constructions, heavy
industry, various services etc), thus managing to bring Greece at
the top of the list of the foreign investors in Serbia, with a total
invested capital which exceeds 3 billion Euros, and which keeps
increasing.
