THE CHANCELLERY OF
H.R.H. CROWN PRINCE Alexander II
OF YUGOSLAVIA

FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF HRH PRINCESS KATHERINE FOUNDATION
Belgrade, 24 November 2006 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown
Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine organized a charity gala
dinner at The White Palace in Belgrade to celebrate five years of successful
work of HRH Princess Katherine Foundation.

Funds gathered at this occasion are intended to finance the Safe Delivery
Project, a new project that aims at improving conditions in the delivery
rooms and gynaecology departments in Serbia by providing modern equipment
and staff training in cooperation with the most eminent medical institutions
in the world. This segment of work is extremely important due to the
introduction of new techniques, adequate application of new technologies and
re-establishing and maintaining relations with the world.

„It is a great pleasure for me to have you here at The White Palace tonight
to celebrate the fifth anniversary of my Foundation. I am very happy to see
many friends and associates of the Foundation who have participated in
numerous humanitarian activities with us in the last five years. I would
like to take the opportunity to thank my husband Crown Prince Alexander for
giving me the chance to live in this beautiful country with beautiful people
that had the misfortune of living through war conflicts. I deem that charity
is my mission and I am proud to have had the privilege of helping others for
15 years,” HRH Princess Katherine told guests in her welcome speech.

The charity dinner was also attended by the representatives of the Ministry
of Health of Serbia, representatives of the Royal Medical Board, and members
of the Crown Council.

HRH Princess Katherine Foundation was established in Belgrade in August of
2001, soon after TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Princess Katherine
returned to the fatherland after more than 50 years in exile. Foundation’s
main goal is to continue and expand the tradition of humanitarian work
initiated in 1993 in London, when Lifeline Humanitarian Organization was
founded. During the conflicts in former Yugoslavia, Lifeline provided help
to all victims, regardless of their religious or ethnic background.

Today, under the patronage of HRH Princess Katherine, Lifeline has offices
in New York, Chicago, Toronto, London and Athens, while the centre of all
activities is the office of HRH Princess Katherine Foundation in Belgrade.

The Princess’ immense care for people in need and great humanitarian help to
all institutions in the country was the reason why on November 15, 2000 the
Federal Ministry of Health has appointed Her Royal Highness the official
coordinator for humanitarian help.
