On the occasion of Vidovdan celebration, HRH Crown Prince Alexander II has stated:
“Today we celebrate Vidovdan, one of the greatest Serbian national holidays and one of the most important dates in Serbian history. Although we are a small nation, our history is turbulent, full of rises and falls, great victories and tragic defeats. Serbia today is facing the future which brings many changes. No one can know what exactly the future is going to be like, but no one should fear the future, if one goes towards it having something to rely upon. Serbia has a lot to rely upon from her past. We are not celebrating Vidovdan as the day of our defeat, or as a symbol of inevitable sacrifice. We are celebrating it as a symbol of the indestructibility of the nation’s spirit, as a proof of the depth of our roots, as a jubilation of hope and faith in a better tomorrow. Whatever the changes might be ahead of us, as long as we celebrate Vidovdan, as long as we are proud of our history, our future can only be bright.”
