JAPANESE DONATIONS TO THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM OF SERBIA
Total value of the Japanese Government donations is $ 5
million
Belgrade, 8 April 2004 – HRH Crown Prince
Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended the celebration
of marking the success of the three year project of the Japanese
Government assistance to our health care system, in cooperation with
Serbian Ministry of Health, Japanese Embassy in Belgrade and many
other consultant agencies and partners, held at the First Surgical
Clinic.
Beside Their Royal Highnesses, general manager of
the Clinical Center Prof. Dr. Vojko Djukic and the management of the
Clinical Center, the celebration was attended by HE the Ambassador
of Japan Mr. Tanabe, HE the Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Tomica
Milosavljevic and the delegation of the Japanese International
Cooperation Agency (JICA)
One of the most important contributions to this
project certainly has been the construction of the new Caesarean
section operation room at the Institute for Gynecology and
Obstetrics of the Clinical Center of Serbia, named after HRH Crown
Princess Katherine and carried out under patronage of the Foundation
of HRH Crown Princess Katherine.
This project, completed on the 8 March – the
International Women’s Day and the Day of the Institute for
Gynecology and Obstetrics, in the words of HRH Crown Princess
Katherine, will help our children to come to this world safely.
“Everyone stands behind one’s own deeds, our work
shows what we are like. I am very happy that my Foundation has
recognized the real needs of our health care system and taken part
in this joint project. As long as we work together and carefully
listen to our people’s needs, we will be able to provide a healthy
future for our children”, said the Princess in her speech and
invited her husband, HRH Crown Prince Alexander II to address the
present.
Greeting the distinguished guests and doctors and
nurses, the Crown Prince expressed his gratitude to the Japanese
Government and the people of Japan for their great assistance to the
Clinical Center of Serbia, and emphasized that being on top of the
most advanced achievements in medicine is of crucial importance for
better diagnostics and patient treatments.
The total value of the Japanese Government
donation is $ 5 million, which provided over 300 new machines
installed in more than 50 functional units, and over 500 experts
were trained in contemporary advanced methods in medicine
