CROWN PRINCE ALEKSANDAR II AND H.R.H. PRINCE VLADIMIR ATTEND “SLAVA” OF
FORMER CADETS OF
KING ALEKSANDAR I GRAMMAR SCHOOL
Their Royal
Highnesses Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Prince Vladimir attended today
“slava” (saint patron day) of former cadets of King Aleksandar I Grammar
School at Topčider Hill.
It is the school
that King Aleksandar I established in 1934 and that worked till the
beginning of the World War Two as the most elite school of that type in the
Balkans.
Today the
Military Grammar School is situated in its premises.
On the occasion
of St. Barbara, “slava” of
King Aleksandar I Grammar School, His Grace Bishop of Hvostan Atanasije,
vicar of Serbian Patriarch Pavle performed
the “slava” service.
After the warm
welcome, asked to address former cadets, Crown Prince Aleksandar II said:
“ You are living witnesses of the time that was erased from the history
and people’s mind, but while there are witnesses nothing can be erased. My
family and I are very grateful to you for preserving your memories. An
enormous work of returning memories to the people is waiting for us, but not
on account of the past, but in interest of the future.”
Together with
hosts and head of Military Grammar School, colonel of Yugoslav Army Mr.
Veljko Lučić, Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Prince Vladimir visited
classrooms and cabinets where future officers and non-commission officers of
Yugoslav Army study today.
