Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander, Crown Princess Katherine, Prince Peter, Prince Philip, Mrs. Alison Andrews daughter and Mr. Michael Garfinkel grandson of The Royal Couple hosted The First Startup Weekend in Belgrade in the presence of special guest speakers Mr. Slobodan Djinovic CEO Orion Telecom and Mr. Stefan Lazarevic State Secretary in the Ministry of Internal and Foreign Trade and Telecommunications, distinguished judges, trainers, participants and guests this evening at The Royal Palace in Belgrade.

STARTUP WEEKEND in Serbia is organized under the auspices of HRH Crown Prince Alexander’s Foundation for Education and Culture with the support of the Ministry of Internal and Foreign Trade and Telecommunications and very special effort and initiative of Mrs Alison Andrews and HRH Prince Peter.

Creative minds ranging from entrepreneurs to graphic designers gathered at The Royal Palace in Belgrade for a crash course of taking an idea and turning it into a business.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander said: “This event is the start of an important path that my foundation has taken to foster entrepreneurship in Serbia. Through entrepreneurship, Serbia can gain ground in innovation, economic growth, productivity and most of all, employment. Startup Weekend Belgrade is an intense 54 hour event where a community of entrepreneurs, startup enthusiasts, developers, designers, marketing gurus came together for building businesses over the course of a weekend to share ideas, form teams, and launch a startup. The first day started with the concept of pitching and team building. Teams were formed around concepts and various skills that are brought to the table leaving the remainder of the weekend to mind mapping, strategizing and building a real business.
