HRH Crown Princess Katherine attended today, on her Birthday, the Global Child Forum in Dubai. Crown Princess Katherine was personally invited by the patrons of the Global Child Forum, Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden, and Her Royal Highness Princess Haya of Jordan, the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad, the Ruler of Dubai.
HRH Crown Princess Katherine said in her statement: “I am very happy and very proud to take part at the Global Child Forum in Dubai. This is very important event that addresses children rights and well-being at the global level. But we all must act locally, in each of our countries, to make a world safer and more prosperous place for our children. My husband Crown Prince Alexander and I have been doing exactly that in Serbia over the previous thirteen years, and we will continue to do so in years to come.”
Approximately 400-500 of leaders and top decision makers from governments, corporations and financial institutions, civil society and the academic sector participated at the Forum.
HRH Crown Princess Katherine was the guest at the high level dinner in honour of Her Majesty Queen Silvia’s visit to Dubai, the previous evening, and she will take part at the U.A.E – Sweden cultural event after the Forum tonight, which will mark the 25-year anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Global Child Forum is an initiative by Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, launched in 2009 on the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf is the Honorary Chairman of the Global Child Forum.
The Forum’s vision is to build an independent, global platform, which will support children’s rights. Global decision makers from states, companies and financial institutions, civil society, the UN and academia discuss, exchange ideas, learn and are inspired to form multi-stakeholder partnerships for action which will benefit the next generation and thereby a sustainable world. Global Child Forum’s strategy is to arrange international Forums, initiate independent research, educate and inform in close partnerships with leading stakeholders from all parts of the society.
HRH Crown Princess Katherine has attended previous Global Child Forums, which have been held at The Royal Palace of Stockholm since its inception.
