CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER II AT OPENING OF
THE EXHIBITION ABOUT BOZIDAR KARADJORDJEVIC
Belgrade, 24 May 2010 – His Royal
Highness Crown Prince Alexander II attended today opening of
the exhibition about HH Bozidar Karadjordjevic (1861 –
1908), a nephew of HM King Peter I Karadjordjevic, great
grandson of Karadjordje and grandson of the famous Serbian
humanitarian and benefactor Misa Anastasijevic. The
exhibition was opened at the University Library “Svetozar
Markovic” by Dr. Stela Filipi Matutanovic, director of the
University Library “Svetozar Markovic”. The guests were
addressed by Prof. Dr Nevenka Zarkic Joksimovic, Vice Rector
of Belgrade University and HRH Crown Prince Alexander. Dr
Cedomir Antic, a historian and member of the Crown Cabinet,
made a presentation about the life and work of HH Bozidar
Karadjordjevici.
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander
emphasized in his speech: “Bozidar Karadjordjevic lived in
Paris and travelled a lot all across the world. He painted a
lot, and for the museum the Louvre he produced drafts and
conceptual designs for applied art. The work and life of
Prince Božidar Karađorđević left an important mark on our
culture and art, and his library is used today by the
students of the University of Belgrade. The Karadjordjević
Royal Family has always helped the University of Belgrade”.

HH Bozidar Karadjordjevic spent his whole
life in Paris, except for numerous and long travels
overseas. At the age of 22 he already had a PhD in Law, but
decided to focus on art. He spoke fluent Serbian, French,
Russian and German. He was a gifted translator and artist.
HH Bozidar Karadjordjevic was very popular in Parisian elite
circles, where he was known as “Prince Charming”.
